Misha Kahn has emerged as one of the leading creative voices of his generation. Through a wildly imaginative approach that embraces spontaneity and non-conformity, Kahn allows the illogical and the irreverent to take over his entire process. He employs everything from lo-fi and ad hoc techniques—such as improvisational molds and collage—to virtual reality and other high-tech tools. Born in Duluth, Minnesota in 1989, Kahn graduated from Rhode Island School of Design in 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Furniture Design. Soon after, he gained recognition when he was featured in the Museum of Arts and Design’s Biennial (2014).
Co-hosted Misha Kahn's first solo exhibition in China with Friedman Benda
Brecht Wright Gander is a New York-based artist and the founder of Birnam Wood Studio. Although instinctively drawn to primitive types and forms of furnitures, Ganders is in fact a rebel-creating thought-provoking artworks with unconventional forms and materials. His designs are metaphorical, alluding, sometimes playful, giving the users surprising or sometimes even uncomfortable experiences that lingers. He challenges and inverts the ordinary understanding of how human beings and furnitures coexist and interact with each other. With his background in philosophy and early literary exposures thanks to his poet parents, he dives deep into the questions of being and gives his designs a strong conceptual and philosophical backbone.
